About the author

A Little Bird Told Me is the first book I ever wrote, and it was a steep learning curve. It took about a year to get a reasonable initial draft. Despite being a voracious reader, I had no real idea about how to create a narrative arc, story beats, or how to find 'my voice'. Even though I have five books under my belt now, I'm still learning every day.

I'm a bit of a wanderer... I grew up in Humberside - as was, now East Riding of Yorkshire - and have since lived and worked in the US, Middlesex, Hampshire, Berkshire, Dorset, Somerset - the place that originally inspired Elderwick (see The Village) - and North Yorkshire.

These days, I am extraordinarily lucky to live in the glorious countryside of Normandie, France.

I've always loved reading and like to read widely, in fiction and non-fiction, because you never know what gems you might discover.
